Set it against the intended undergarment and target body chart. It should permit forward reach without cutting in, while covering the agreed side torso and straps. Approve front, side and back mounted views rather than one number alone.
It physically leaves arms and possibly shoulders exposed. Any fabric UV claim applies only to covered areas and needs relevant evidence for the exact material and colour. Product copy should make that boundary clear.
Binding tension, stretch mismatch, armhole shape, seam handling and differential shrinkage can all cause wave or gaping. Test the complete top through movement and laundering, then adjust pattern and application rather than tightening blindly.
