Planning a 100-Piece MOQ Without Overbuilding Your First Capsule

A minimum order quantity only becomes useful when its unit is clear. At REINFORM, the bulk MOQ is 100 pieces per style per colour. That wording matters: adding a style or colour creates another 100-piece production group. Provide your proposed size breakdown; allocation and any size-level constraints are confirmed in the quotation.

Start with the production unit

Treat each style-and-colour combination as one line in your range plan. A navy knee-grip breech is one line. The same breech in white is a second line. A black full-seat riding tight is a third.

This gives buyers a simple planning formula:

Number of styles × number of colours per style × 100 pieces = minimum bulk units

For example, a capsule with two styles in two colours each is:

2 styles × 2 colours × 100 pieces = 400 pieces total

If Style A is ordered in navy and white, and Style B in black and forest green, the range contains four production lines of 100 pieces. Adding “just one more colour” increases the minimum total to 500 pieces.

Build the size ratio inside each 100-piece line

Provide the proposed size range and ratio. REINFORM will confirm how the 100-piece style/colour MOQ can be allocated and whether the requested fit blocks or size options need separate development.

An illustrative XS–XL split might be 10 / 25 / 30 / 25 / 10, totalling 100 pieces. That is an arithmetic example, not a recommended demand curve. Use your own preorder data, comparable product sales, customer measurements and target-market sizing to set the ratio. If you have no sales history, flag that uncertainty in the brief so the size range and sample size can be discussed before grading is approved.

Length options, youth sizing and substantially different fit blocks may require separate development even when they do not create a stated MOQ by themselves. Put them in the request rather than assuming they are free extensions of one pattern.

Reduce risk through assortment choices

The cleanest way to lower a first commitment is to reduce the number of style-and-colour combinations. One strong breech in two commercially useful colours may be a better first test than four styles with shallow storytelling. Another option is one training bottom plus one competition top in one colour each, creating a two-style capsule with a 200-piece minimum.

Keep decoration disciplined as well. A new silicone pattern, custom zip puller, dyed trim, label set or packaging format can add development work and setup costs even when the garment MOQ remains unchanged. Repeating selected materials, trims and brand treatments across a capsule can make the range feel coherent and simplify approvals.

Turn the calculation into a quote-ready plan

Before requesting a quote, list every style-colour line, quantity, size range and proposed size ratio. Add the target market, target launch date, branding and packaging requirements. REINFORM can then review the range against the 100-piece-per-style-per-colour MOQ and identify where development decisions are still open.

Action: Send a simple range table with one row per style and colour. If you are choosing between a broader range and a deeper first run, include both scenarios for feasibility review.
